Directions

Despite its size, the Wissahickon Gorge is difficult to reach. There are only three parking lots-one at the Valley Green Inn, another at Kitchen's Lane, and one onBell's Mill Road-and they may be filled, even in midweek.

Highlights

The site of this hike, Fairmount Park, is the largest municipal park in the world. Its most notable aspects are Wissahickon Gorge, a covered bridge, and at the southernmost end, the famous "Rocky" steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
