Trial starts about 1 mile down the Cathedral Driveway trail #510-1 then follows Windy Creek through lodgepole pine up the ridge of Windy Peak to the intersection of Windy Peak trail #342. Horseshoe Basin can be reached by going north on Windy Peak trail #342. Mule deer can be seen at times. Great view of the Cascade Mountain range from the top of Windy Peak.
