Description

This Clifty Wilderness trail leaves Hwy. 715 and extends up a wooded ridge to the base of Tower Rock. The trail has ridge-side flora of mountain tea, alum root, and evergreen rhododendron understory with Crooked Sourwood, Flowering Dogwood and taller overstory of pine/hardwood timber.

Directions

Turn South off the Mountain Parkway at Slade, KY to Highway 11. Follow Hwy. 11 North 0. 1 mile to Hwy. 15. Travel West on Hwy. 15 1.4 miles to Hwy. 77 on the right. Follow Hwy. 77 4.9 miles to Hwy. 715. then travel up river, along Hwy. 715 4.1 miles to Tower Rock Trail 0255 on the left.

Highlights

The trail's main attraction is the ninety-foot sandstone conglomerate pinnacle where many rock climbing enthusiasts practice their skills.
