Description

This trail passes along Swift Creek. through huge evergreen white pines, dispersed virgin hemlock, heavy rhododendron thickets, and clear tributarial streams. Numerous sandstone conglomerate boulders that fragmented and fell from the high Cliffs above now settled to differential erosion along the slopes and creek bed below. The trail visits a historic splash-dam site, and Hell's kitchen. It is mostly in cove hardwood stands with moist heath rhododendron understory This trail is located in one of the most remote areas of the Red River Gorge.

Directions

Turn South off the Mountain Parkway at Slade. KY to Highway 11. Follow Hwy. 11 North 0.1 mile to Hwy. 15. Travel East on Hwy. 15 7.0 miles to Hwy. 715 on the left and continue on Hwy. 715 0.3 mile to the Rock Bridge Road on the right. Follow the Rock Bridge Road three miles to Its terminus in a picnic area. then walk the Rock Bridge Nature Trail 0.5 mile to the Swift Camp Creek Trail #219.
