The trail leading past Spectra Point begins in the southern portion of the Monument at the Visitor Center. It leads four miles, round trip, passing through an area that harbors the ancient conifer species of Bristlecone Pine. The route ends at an overlook of the amphitheater and into the Ashdown Gorge area. It is rated as moderately strenuous by the Park Service staff.
Directions: From South Entrance, Drive northward a short distance to the Visitor Center and the trailhead for the Spectra Point/Ramparts Trail.
