Description

Reconstructed in 1998, Trail 240 iss in very good condition for hikers and livestock. use is moderate and the high elevation provides good view from the open ridge. Trail 240 provides access into the Mallard Larkins Primitive Area which is a recommended wilderness. No motorized vehicles are permitted on the trail. Several high mountain lakes can be accessed from Trail 240 after the second week in July. No water is available along the trail, so an adequate supply must be carried with you.

Directions

Road #700 near Aquarius Campground to the highest point on the road (Smith Saddle), with parking for horse trailers as well as cars at parking area.
