Description

The trail leads off from the backpacker's parking area on Highway 715, and crosses consecutive high ridges and deeply cut gorges- ending at the mouth of Martin's Fork Branch on Hwy. 77. The plant life is a mixed hardwood forest of varying species and understory shrubs of rhododendron, Mountain laurel, Spicewood, along with local flora of Yellow Stargrass, Black-Eyed Susan, and Poisonous Goat's Rue. Numerous spurs along the trail offer a long loop system

Directions

Turn South off the Mountain Parkway at Slade. KY to Highway 11. Follow Hwy. it North 0.1 mile to Hwy. 15. Travel East on Hwy. 15 7.0 miles to Hwy. 715 on the left. Travel North on Hwy. 715 4.1 miles to the backpacker's parking area an the left.

Highlights

The trail's main attraction is the high and scenic overlook along the ridgetops- and the clear flowing streams in the deeply cut gorges.
