Trail Description

This trail climbs the east side of Prater Ridge and traverses the top of the ridge. Usually uncrowded; this offers a good chance to view wildlife.

Directions: From Morefield Campground, Prater Ridge Trailhead is in the southwest corner of Morefield Campground

Longest hiking trail in the park.

Directions

The park entrance is midway between Cortez and Mancos off U.S. 160. This trail can be accessed at the Moorefield Campground. Morefield campground is 4
miles from the entrance.

Highlights

Rises for 500 feet then flattens out with views of Montezuma Valley and the La Plata Mountains.
