Trail Description

This intermittent National Recreation Trail is primarily for horse and pack horse use. A portion of it connects with Trail #45 (Oldenberg Lake) to provide a continuous horseback route along Crescent Lake and then to Windigo Pass. Another portion traverses the west meadow of Davis Lake. Lakes, meadows and various timber types will be encountered via this route. Forest regulations prohibits use of motorized vehicles on this trail to prevent soil erosion.

Directions: From Bend, The Metolius-Windigo Horse Trail, Crescent Lake and the Whitefish Campground can be reached on US 97 south to Crescent, then west on the Crescent cutoff road to Oregon 58 turning right on Oregon 58 to Crescent Lake Junction. Turn southwest off Oregon 58 at Crescent Lake Junction and follow the paved road for about 2.2 miles turning right at the first paved road intersection after crossing the railroad tracks. From that intersection, proceed on the paved road (#60) for about 4.2 miles to the camp. This trail can be accessed from via the Whitefish Horse Camp, Crescent Lake, Davis Lake and Moore Creek Trail #40.
