Click here to edit!A day hike up Mansell Mountain, returning along the shore of Long Pond. As with other hikes in Acadia National Park, thistrail displays some fine examples of stonework. ThePerpendicular Trail has steep sections and rugged hiking to Great Notch. If you want to take a swim, do it where you first approach the pond, since this is a public water supply andswimming is not permitted in the southern half.
DirectionsFrom Somesville, take Maine Route 102 south then take a right off 102 South onto Seal Cove Road and a right onto Long Pond Road and follow it until it dead-ends at Long Pond. The Great Pond Trail begins at the south end of Long Pond behind the pumping station.
HighlightsLike other trails in Acadia National Park, some very nice stonework can be found on this trail. Also, you can swim in the northern half of Long Pond.
