  • This trail is for hiking (no mountain bikes). You can cross-country ski in winter.
  • Many other hiking trips are possible in the area. You could make a loop by returning on Twin Lakes Pass, for example. See the Brighton topo or Trails Illustrated Wasatch Front-Strawberry Valley maps.

Description

This trail connects the upper ends of Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons in 3.5 miles one way, with an elevation gain of about 800 feet. It's also a fine destination if you're looking for an alpine ramble past several pretty lakes. The Little Cottonwood Canyon trailhead is in Albion Basin. From here, the path, also known as Lake Catherine Trail, climbs to 10,220-foot Catherine Pass and drops to the namesake lake. The trail continues past lakes Martha and Mary to Brighton Overlook (Dog Lake is about 500 feet south) and descends to Brighton Resort in Big Cottonwood Canyon.
