Trail Description

Eighty-acre Lake Glendale was built in the 1930's. Careful watershed management maintains its exceptionally clear water.

One mile south of the lake, along the ridge, is evidence of an old road, the old stagecoach route between Golconda and Vienna. It is within the general location of the Illinois section of the Cherokee Indians' Trail of Tears which ran through Illinois, Missouri, and into Oklahoma.

This recreation area, located between Glendale and Dixon Springs on State Highway 145, offers a variety of opportunities for family outdoor enjoyment. Enjoy fishing, swimming, camping picnicking and hiking. You can hike around the lake. There is also a trail to Signal Bluff, a scenid rocky ridge.
