Natural Bridge State Park's namesake is viewed along Indian Moccasin Trail. The quickest way to reach the erosion-carved bridge is by taking the eastern (left) trail from the parking area. Expect to hike over a steep slope as the trail follows the eastern ridge of CH C. The trail is well maintained with a wide path affording side-by-side hiking. There are fourteen information stops identifying trees and shrubs and their medicinal uses of Native Americans.

The wind and water-carved natural bridge expands 25 feet wide and 15 feet high with the top towering 35 feet above the ground level. At the base of the bridge is the Raddatz rock shelter, a natural arc that is 60 feet wide with a depth of 30 feet. This cave was inhabited by Paleo-Indians making it the oldest inhabited site on record in the upper Midwest.

Located along the northeastern area of the trail a scenic overlook affords sights into western Baraboo hills. Along the southwestern stretch of trail are an old log smokehouse and a log granary. The trail connects with Whitetail Hiking Trail. It too travels the challenging eastern steep slope of CH C.

Even though the park is remote affording a quiet getaway, the natural bridge has been a popular attraction since the mid to late 19th century.

Directions: From Baraboo, WI, Travel 16 miles south of US 12. Take County C west for 10 miles. Trails are accessible from the parking lot.
