Click here to edit!A hike along the route of the old cog railroad that once climbed Green (now Cadillac) Mountain. You will discover obvious signs of the railroad. Iron pins are still firmly embedded inthe granite ledges. Do not pull out any pins or take any loose metal found here, since historic artifacts are protected in Acadia National Park. The railroad bed is not maintained, so it is steep and overgrown. The West Face Trail is steep, with many rock slabs that are slippery when wet.
DirectionsFollow the Park Loop Road for 0.6 mile from its junction withthe Cadillac Mountain Summit Road. Look for a paved pullout on the right. The pullout is the trailhead.
HighlightsAlong this trail, you will find historic remnants of the railroad which once brought passengers up the mountain as you ascend to the summit.
