Trail Description

Fork Ridge Trail is accessed off Deep Creek Trail to the south and the Appalachian Trail to the north. It can also be accessed from Clingman's Dome Road on the north. There are primitive campsites available in addition to the Mt. Collins Shelter on the Appalachian Trail. The trail is very difficult and ascends about 3,000 feet within a 5 mile stretch. If traveling from the south, it travels through a beautiful Hemlock grove before reaching Clingman's Dome Road.

Directions: From Bryson City, NC, Travel 2 miles north on Deep Creek Road. Take the Deep Creek Trail from the campground and travel north about 6 - 8 miles to where Fork Ridge Trail intersects. OR travel to Clingman's Dome Road off US 441, north of Cherokee.

This is a difficult path but very beautiful. Elevation changes approximately 3,000 feet within a few miles.
