Trail Description

Fobes Trail, a 1.5-mile trek, winds through chaparral and oaks to intersect with the Pacific Crest Trail on the pine-covered Desert Divide that lies south of Spitler Peak and north of Palm View Peak. This location provides spectacular views of the desert floor below. Its unique location provides an interesting ecological area as it climbs from low to high desert habitats.

Overnight opportunities for riders and their horses await at nearby McCall Equestrian Park and Ribbonwood Equestrian Campground.

Directions: From Mountain Center, CA, Travel south on Highway 74, continuing several miles past Lake Hemet (Garner Valley Area, which lies between Idyllwild and Palm Springs). Turn left (east) onto Fobes Ranch Road (6S05). This hike leaves Garner Valley from Fobes Ranch Road.
