Description

This Rincon Mountains trail, part of the wilderness area located in the Saguaro National Park East, begins with a gradual increase in elevation through cactus country, progressing through juniper/scrub oak life zones, to Cowhead Saddle, and, after some fairly strenuous elevation changes, terminates at Manning Camp at 8000 feet.

Directions

Drive east on Speedway Blvd. Trailhead is located in a parking area to the right at the end of the road.

Highlights

The reward after 12 miles of hiking is Manning Camp, with its beautiful ponderosa pines, large log cabin (forest service use only) and year-round water supply.
