Trail Description

Deadmans Trail leads northward from the eastern rim of Horseshoe Canyon to the canyon bottom. The route is dry and steep, but there is usually water on the floor of Horseshoe Canyon. This route is lightly cairned and seldom used. Be prepared to do some route finding in the canyon. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, sunglasses and a brimmed hat for this hike. Hikers interested in viewing more rock art can hike the length of Horseshoe Canyon turning this hike into a full days worth of walking.

Directions: From Hans Flat Ranger Station, Drive northward on the Horseshoe Canyon Road, Rec Road 777, 16.5 miles to a junction. Bear left at this junction and drive 4.5 miles to the trailhead.

This trail leads one and a half miles into Horseshoe Canyon from the eastern rim. It can be used in conjunction with Horseshoe Canyon Trail to form a longer day hike.
