This 4.8-mile loop trail offers some still water scenery and some rugged hiking beside a creek, along with views from some rocky hillside glades in the Mark Twain National Forest.
Leave the Crane Lake boat ramp on a seemingly forgotten segment of the Ozark Trail to reach the lake dam and geological features of a shut-in, where volcanic rock borders Crane Pond Creek
Ahead, cross Crane Pond Creek, bisecting scenic meadows before emerging onto more rocky glades with shut-in vistas before returning to the shore of Crane Lake.
