Description

The trail leaves Auxier Ridge Trail #204 and descends below the cliff on an old logging road to a large rock formation resembling a courthouse. This trail passes through hardwoods with Gnarled Virginia pines, evergreen Mountain Laurel understory through areas of narrow bare sandstone conglomerate ridge top, and through areas below the high cliff lines where the sunlight sparkles off the water trickling along the clear seeping springs.

Directions

Turn South off the Mountain Parkway at Slade. KY to Highway 11. Follow Hwy. 11 North 0.1 mile to Hwy. 15. Travel East on Hwy. 15 3.2 miles to Tunnel Ridge Road on the left. Follow Tunnel Ridge Road 3.5 miles to the backpacker's parking area #39C.

Highlights

The trail is scenic and rich in local flora of Mist Flower and Cinnamon fern below the cliff line.
