Sights of the 40' Chief Tomokie statue loom midway along this coastal hammock trail. Once the location of the former Timucuan Indian village of Nocoroco, the area is now graced with the impressive work of Fred Dana Marsh.

The shaded trail is handicapped accessible and leads not only to the statue but also to one of five park picnic areas. You may come across anglers on the trail. The shoreline is excellent for fishing. A museum at the trail entrance tells the story of Chief Tomoke and the beautiful Indian maiden, Oletta, who cast the poisonous arrow.

Directions: From Ormond Beach, FL, Travel north along North Beach Street and travel three miles to the park entrance. The nature trail begins from the museum parking lot.

Steeped in Indian legend, the trail offers a huge statue depicting the chief's last moments on earth.
