Click here to edit!This strenuous 7.5-mile hike includes breathtaking views and passes two scenic rock outcrops with views of the surrounding Piedmont region. Some rock scrambling is required. Many acres of hardwood trees were harvested during the 1800s to produce charcoal for the operation of the Catoctin Iron Furnace. The large, flat "charcoal hearths" can still be seen in the mountains. Cat Rock provides excellent views of fall foliage in the surrounding Catoctin Mountains. Bob's Hill has an elevation of 1,765 feet and provides views to the north and south.
