There are a couple of stream crossings and this part of the trail hits some fairly steep switchbacks. About 1 mile past the confluence, the trail works its way along a rocky hillside containing crumbly rhyolitic soils. The trail continues on and passes the trail junctions to Snowslide Gulch Trailhead (192) and to Marys River (018). After passing these junctions, the trail switchbacks its way up West Marys River through subalpine fir for about 2 miles until it reaches the saddle.
HighlightsFrom the trailhead, the trail is a gradual, steady uphill climb to the head of the Camp Draw drainage. There are some great views of the surrounding mountains within the wilderness from along Camp Draw with West Marys River.
