Decend and climb for a total of 2.5 miles to Dante's View, a watered garden in the top of Griffith Park. From there, turn left and take the road back to the Observatory. On the left side of the lawned area in front of the observatory you will see another dirt road; follow it downhill until you reach Vermont Avenue by the Golf course. At the point, cross Vermont and head uphill about one block until you come to a paved road circling the golf course which leads to the Tennis center. This road leads back to Commonwealth and the beginning of the hike.
