Description

The Billy Creek Trail winds down from the Talimena Scenic Byway atop Winding Stair Mountain. It offers year-round day hiking as well as horseback riding. Motorized vehicles are prohibited. The trail curves down the southern face of the mountain to Billy Creek Campground. Part of this trail was located on a turn-of-the century logging trail. In the 1930s, Civilian Conservation Corps crews used this route to accessTalimena Scenic Byway work sites. Unsurfaced; Marked with white and yellow rectangles. Intermittent streams are located near the trail. Treat all water before drinking.

Take State Highway 63 to Forest Service Road 6022 North.Access can also be gained from the Talimena Scenic Byway at the Horsethief Spring Picnic Area.
