Helpful Hints

Rating:
  • Take a hike on this trail, located within the boundaries of the Cape Cod National Seashore, and learn about the evolution of this local environment culminating in what we have today—a forest of beech trees.
  • Two loops totaling over a mile pass by interesting freshwater ponds located close to the ocean. These dune ponds support water-loving species such as red maple and swamp azalea, and offer a contrast to drier pine areas nearby.
  • The trailhead is easy to find, located off Race Point Road. A parking area and restrooms are located on the south end of the trail, which offers level and steep areas as it climbs over ancient dunes.
