Among the park's most scenic trails is the 1-mile self-guided Beaver Meadow Nature Trail. A trail overlook allows visitors to view the environment and wildlife found in a beaver pond. Areas of the trail are marked by ridges and polished rocks; evidence of glacial activity. Habitats vary from shady oak, white and jack pine woodlands to shrubby areas dominated by gray dogwood, raspberry and tag alder to wetlands alive with songbirds, insects, and amphibians. As hikers explore the diverse nature trail, a watchful eye might get a glimpse at resident wildlife including white-tailed deer, beaver, muskrat, and rabbit. Ancient plant life is viewed amid the fern garden including specimens of cinnamon fern and club moss. Pets and bicycles are prohibited on trail. Beaver Meadow Nature Trail links with Staghorn Trail.
Directions: From Chippewa Falls, WI, Travel County S 3.5 miles to County O. Travel 2 miles to park entrance. The nature trail is in the southern section of the park.
