Trail Description

Bear Lake Trail is an easy 0.3 mile hike. The trail begins along the Bear Lake Road #4021 and ends at Bear Lake. As it is a short hike from the road, this popular lake is a good destination for beginning hikers. The lake is entirely surrounded by forest and although the lake is 30 feet deep, it offers only fair fishing for the angler. A backcountry toilet is provided on the hillside above the north shore of the lake. The 2.1 mile long trail to Pinnacle Lake is another attraction for day hikers.

Directions: From Verlot, Travel east on the Mt. Loop Hwy. 4.5 miles. Turn right on the Schweitzer Creek Road #4020 and continue 2.3 miles to Bear Lake Road #4021. Turn right onto this road and continue for 3.4 miles to the trailhead.
