Description

The trail follows a very high narrow ridge 2.1 miles to It's terminus where views of Double Arch, Haystack Rock. Courthouse Rock. Raven Rock and other broad views of the Red River Gorge cliffs are numerous. Sheer cliffs extend on both-sides of the ridge. plant life is dry heath rhododendron. Smilax to Blueberry and Huckleberry in the understory, and has a scattered overstory of tall Shortleaf Pine, Prickly Holly and dispersed Chestnut Oaks.

Directions

Turn South off the Mountain Parkway at Slade, KY to Highway 11. Follow Hwy. It North 0.1 Mile to Hwy. 15. Travel East on Hwy. 15 3.2 miles to Tunnel Ridge Road on the left. Follow Tunnel Ridge Road 3.5 miles to the backpacker's parking area 039C on the right.

Highlights

At the trail terminus there are views of Double Arch, Haystack Rock, Courthouse Rock, Raven Rock- and other broad views of the Red River Gorge cliffs.
