Although the trail guide calls this relatively easy, don't underestimate the rocky path (about a one and a half mile section). The path is well-blazed. Not many good campsites on this section, and NO WATER until Harpers Ferry.

To Keys Gap: Take WV route 9 from Charles Town and pass a scenic view spot on left. There will be another vehicle pullover on the left just after this one . . . THIS IS NOT IT! Continue past a store and road on left and the trailhead is well-marked.

A nice meadow for a picnic at Interesting Civil War rock redoubts. Lush periwinkle beds, outcroppings at Jefferson Rock.
