Description

Trail #570 is a steep grade providing "quick" access from Bronson Meadows to Trail #226. There are several dispersed sites along this route. Trail #570 currently receives its highest use from horseback riders during hunting season.

From Bronson Meadows, the Ames Ridge Trail follows along the north side of the valley and crosses over Early Creek before ascending the ridge. At this point, the trail immediately starts climbing over several switchbacks on the south side of the ridge. The overstory of white pine and Douglas-fir with an understory of red hosier dogwood continues along much of the trail. An abandoned mining cabin can be seen below the trail in the Ames Creek drainage. The trail proceeds along the divide between Early Creek and Ames Creek, gradually gaining views of the Coeur d'Alene Divide to the north and Cemetary Ridge to the south. Trail #570 ends at Trail #226 after a steady ascent up a west-facing slope through dense brush.
