The Alpine Pond Nature Trail can be used with or without a printed guide that helps identify a variety of plant species and geologic features in the landscape. The trail leads along the northern portion of the natural amphitheater preserved within the Monument. It forms a two-mile loop, which drops below the rim of the canyon into a heavily forested area. Visitors will find aspen trees, spruce and fir species in this wooded area. The route can be made into a one mile nature walk by using a shuttle car at each trailhead.
Directions: From Southern Entrance, Drive northward into the Monument on Utah State Road 148 approximately five miles to the trailhead.
