Trail Description

This 3.6 mile trail is open to hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The trail was used by early miners traveling from Lund Park to Bohemia City via the Knott Trail. It passes by Martin Springs near the Junction of Knott Trail. Intermittent stands of young timber provide openings with views of Several nearby peaks.

It has a 10-30% grade and is rated as a difficult trail. This trail is in the Umpqua National Forest, northeast of Crater Lake National Park.

Directions: From Dorena Lake, Go southeast on #2400 to Brice Creek Rd (#2470), turn right (south). The trailhead is near the Lund Park Campground, on the right.

This strenuous, 3.6 mile trail is open to hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.

Description

The Adams Mtn. Way Trail was originally used by early miners traveling from Lund Park to Bohemia City via the Knott Trail. The trail predominantly follows ridgelines. Water is only available near Lund Park and at Martin Springs off of the Knott Trail. (If you use this water, we recommend boiling it)

This trail is part of a large loop trail system connecting with the Knott Trail #1417 and then over to the Crawfish Trail #1421.
For those desiring a shorter hike, the Adams Mtn. Way Trail crosses over Road #2263 at mile point 1.0 and also over Road #2263-741 at mile point 1.0, near the edge of the timber.

A one way trip on foot averages 21/2 - 3 hours for the entire length of the trail. Grades range from 10-30%

Directions

The trailhead is 25 mile southeast of Cottage Grove. From Cottage Grove Exit 174 on Interstate 5, take Row River Road #2400 east 19 miles to junction of Layng Creek Road #17 and Brice Creek Road #2470. Bear right on Road #2470 and continue for 7 miles. Trailhead parking is available at Lund Park, trail begins .1 mile east of Lund Park on south side of road.

Begins mile point 7.0 on Brice Creek County Road #2470. The trailhead has undeveloped facilities and is marked by a sign. There is parking at Lund Park for 8 vehicles. The upper (southers) end of the trail is served by the trailhead for the Knott Trail at the end of Road 2241. There are two mid access points along Road 2263 and 2263-741 with roadside parking for 2-3 vehicles.

Highlights

The old mining trail Adams Mountain Way mostly follows ridgelines as part of a much larger loop system.
