Description

The maintained trail climbs a ridgeline until reaching a steep sand ladder that takes you to Windy Pass. Beyond the pass the grades become gentler as you cross the Plains of Abraham. The trail ends at its junction with Loowit Trail #216. Length: 2 miles (one way), from Windy Ridge parking lot to Lahar 10 miles (one way) There is little shade and no potable water.

The Abraham Trail connects with the Loowit Trail and the Truman Trail.

Directions

From Interstate 5 travel east on State Hwy. 12 to Randle. Take FR 25 south for 15 miles to FR 99. Follow this road to the Windy Ridge Viewpoint parking lot. You can access the Truman Trail from the parking area, connecting with the Abraham Trail.

Highlights

Skirting along the east slope of Mount St. Helens, the Abraham Trail passes through wildflower strewn meadows, offering views of Mount Rainier and Mount Adams. Climb to Windy Pass for views of the Plains of Abraham.
