Click here to edit! This desert trail traverses Catalina State Park through an abundance of desert plant life. Roadrunners, butterflies and fire ants abound. You can access and exit the trail from several points along its length and there are several singletrack options that branch off and return to the main trail.
The trail itself is rolling singletrack with some sections of deep sand that can be ridden with a high cadence and a light touch on the bars. There are also some rocky sections. It's dry out there so bring plenty of water - these washes flow only in during rain storms. Summer riding should be done early in the morning. It gets dangerously hot by 9 am.
DirectionsFollow State Route 77 north out of Tucson for approximately 25 miles, turn right into the park that is clearly marked as "Catalina State Park". If you reach Tangerine Rd, you have gone too far. Highlights
This somewhat technical singletrack trail follows washes and weaves among cactii in the shadow of the Catalina Mountains.
